November Notice to Parents

1. Amendment to School Calendar:
December:
Wednesday 8th – Holy Day – no school
Thursday 9th – School Planning Day – no school
Thursday 16th – Nativity/Carol Service at 7pm in St. Tiernan’s Church
Thursday 23rd – School closing at 12.30pm for Christmas holidays.
January:
Monday 10th – school re-opens
February:
Thursday & Friday – 24th & 25th -Mid-term break
2. NATIVITY/CAROL SERVICE in St. Tiernan’s Church December 16th @ 7pm.Junior & Senior Infants - ANGELS - white shirt/dress, wings and halo (halo can be tinsel secured around head). First & Second Class - SHEPHERDS – long coloured robes or dress with headdress (towel or cloth secured on head with band) Third Class - SOLDIERS. Fourth Class - DANCE; Fifth Class - VILLAGERS; Sixth Class - NARRATION & MIME
3. BOARD OF MANAGEMENT – the new female Parents Rep on the Board of Management is Mrs. Deirdre Foggin. She replaces Mrs. Pauline Rowland and joins Shane O’Boyle, who is the male representative. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Pauline Rowland for her contribution and co-operation over the years.
4. SWIMMING – Fourth and Fifth have 3 weeks done and Second and Third will start for six weeks on December 7th. A note will be sent out in advance.
5. CHRISTMAS ANNUALS Folens have left us in a supply for sale which will be available in Office from Monday 15th November until November 30th. Unfortunately we will not be able to get copies after that date. Each class teacher has a sample or you can call into the Office to see one. They cost €5 each. We have a limited supply so will be on a first come basis. If you have any further queries please contact Phil in the Office at 096 31768. If you want to view a sample

6. CLOTHING/MOBILE PHONES COLLECTION – Filled bags of unwanted ladies and gents clothing, footwear, bedding, towels, curtains, blankets, duvet covers etc. can be dropped in at any stage to our Rainbow Shed and they will be stored until the collection lorry arrives. Old mobile phones should be left into the Office. Each bag of clothing is worth €4 to our school. Sincere thanks to all parents who have left in bags.
7. CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBERS: Since September I have noticed that a lot of contact numbers on file are obsolete. I really need to be in a position to contact you or a guardian if your child is sick so please keep the Office informed of change of mobile/contact numbers.
8. GREEN SCHOOLS At the moment we are working towards our Green Flag for Energy. We are trying to conserve oil and electricity. Lunches – please bring a healthy lunch – no fizzy drinks, no tin-foil, no milky drinks. Every child to bring a lunch box to take home what is left over.
