APRIL JUNIOR FOOTBALL BLITZ

The excitement was high in the Junior Rooms on Wednesday April 28th when finally their day had arrived to play on the big pitch. A Football Blitz was organised for Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class. First class had the honour of leading the teams this time. A total of 60 children were involved. Sixth Class acted as mentors/managers for the blitz and got a taste of how stressing such a job can be! Many thanks to parents Michael Murphy & Claire Hopkins for giving up their time to come in and ref. Great skill was shown by the children. It was a fun time for all. Thankfully the weather stayed dry and sunny for this memorable occasion. Lots of parents gathered to watch the future stars take to the field, some for their first time.

Interactive Whiteboards have arrived!

During the Easter Holidays, our classrooms were equipped with Interactive Whiteboards, complete with laptops. Interactive Whiteboards do two things with make them a worthy addition to our classrooms.
Firstly they assist the teacher in teaching, by providing multimedia resources which improve the quality of the lessons being taught. It brings the power of multimedia and the Internet to the teachers fingertips.
Secondly, they improve the children's learning experiences in the classroom, through the use of the resources of the Internet, audio, video, animation, text and interactive activities etc

Teachers will be receiving training in the use of the boards outside of school time over the coming weeks.

Net at the back of the Goals!

Prior to the beginning of the football season, the net to catch the balls was erected on a new frame behind the goalposts at the playschool end of the pitch. This was particularly important to stop footballs landing on the busy part of the running track which younger children use frequently during the good weather. Our sincere thanks to Tommy Dolan for his time and effort in making this happen for us.

Football League Begins

The football got underway on a fine sunny day on our school pitch today. Brendan Larkin refereed as both teams played a hard fought game, in good spirit and with much enthusiasm. The league will continue during lunchtimes, weather permitting for the next few weeks. Parents and relatives of children involved in the games are invited to come along to support their children during lunchtime. We hope to have throw in at 12 30 sharp, so that children are back in their rooms at 1 pm with the other children. We wish all the teams the best of luck!

If you are a parent, and would like to help with the refereeing, we would be delighted to hear from you.
